For some reason a number of my favorite songs by artists I like are July related. For example:

The Decemberists - 'July, July!'
Low - 'July'
Katatonia - 'July'
Galaxie 500 - 'Fourth of July'

What other July favorites are out there? Why are so many good songs dedicated to such a hellishly hot month? What's the deal with those Corn Nuts? Is it a corn or is it a nut? Who are these people?

The best: "4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)"

Fuckin' brilliant, that one. One of the best albums ever, too! Always a plus.

Sandy is the true classic, for sure. But another Bruce song that I always associate with the 4th of July is "Darlington County" off of Born in the U.S.A. I've always thought that song was just incredibly fun, too. It's probably not much of a fan favorite or a well-respected track but I love it.

Yeah, great song, but I don't associate it with the joyous, fun-lovin, red white and blue, 4th of July holiday you know? It's a really dark and sad song. And you could make the case that the song isn't even in reference to the holiday. So I don't know if that one works, exactly. I don't know.

And I'll add some more lovin for "July, July!" That song rules.

Let's not forget Shuttlecock's Forfeit of July from The Unforgettable Liar album.

(originally called "Cocks of July", but that's not very funny, is it?)

Now home, checking my spreadsheet of songs:

(Seemingly) Nonstop July - a-ha
Cold Day In July - Dixie Chicks
Christmas In July - Sufjan Stevens

That's all I've got, other than what's already been mentioned.

Chicago - Saturday in the Park.................................. I think it was the 4th of July

Reminds me of my daughter, 'lilpal94 :cute: 15 on the 4th

bad - third eye blind's 1000 julys
