I mean I'm a fan of Hip Hop, Metal, and the Rolling Stones so I'm not going to take sides here but blatantly bashing other genres and bands has never been 'oh so cool and hip.' It rather makes one look and sound like a bitter curmudgeon. The exact opposite of a hip individual. He could have just said that those styles of music are not for him and leave it at that.

Supposedly, Keith made these comments with a wink or it was tongue- in- cheek or whatever bullshit.

That old fucker has been through a lot. I thought his comments were entertaining which I guess was the point. The comments that people left at Rolling Stone's website were hysterical. People really got their balls in a bunch. Just because Keith shits on rap doesn't mean its gospel. I like rap and I wasn't really offended. You consider the source and move on. I'm sure the folks at NORML enjoyed his endorsement of weed.
