Know Your Enemy ain't anything new, and certainly can't match American Idiot's title track as far as being an epic opening single is concerned, but I like it well enough.

I think it's perfect. Sums up the album's lyrical themes, mood, and overall feel in a concise manner while sticking to what Green Day does best musically. It's not my favorite song on American Idiot, but it sure piqued my interest, which is what any great lead single should do. I'm not quite feeling that with Know Your Enemy.

Is there a link to the song? The You Tube link above doesn't work. I got an email that the song was played in its entirety in the UK, but it wouldn't allow me to play it outside that territory.

I have it if you want it. :D

Alright, I'll admit it. I like their new single. Damn you Green Day! Damn you for being good at making infectious pop-punk songs. This album is going to be huge. Mark it.

. . . . Aw, man.
I love this band.
However, I feel slight disappointment right now. The closest they play to me is Sacramento, which really isn't that far! But they play there on my first day of school. Booooo.

Oh, well. Looking forward to everything anyway. :)

Bought my ticket today for when they play Wembley Arena in November  Typically it's right in the middle of term so will have to endure a 7 hour coach journey home but ah well, they're worth it  I hope they plan to play more London shows.

Early first impression...

It's obviously tough to top American Idiot, and I don't think this does. However, I think it's quite the solid album. I'll need a few more listens to flesh out more specifics, but so far, I'm enjoying it.

And this is coming from someone who, after Dookie, totally lost interest in them until American Idiot came around.
