Who's youre fucking daddy!!!

Let me start by saying, im not really one to review concerts. Ive been to a few (u2, Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, Killers, Collective Soul, Nixons, Reverend Horton Heat, Bangles, probably a few more i cant remember) but not as many as most people on here. Im obviously a little biased, and i can almost judge a show by saying "there's U2, and then there's everyone else..." So let me say this, if u2 is a "10" live then Duran Duran was a 9 or 9.5 last night. The only disappointment would be the absence of 'Hungry Like a Wolf' (setlist below). However the entire show was brilliantly performed from start to finish with the first track 'all you need is now' a great opener full of energy and sing/scream along with the crowd who probably doesn't even know the song all that well. The classic hits like Rio, Girls on Film, Reflex, etc. probably got the biggest buzz from the crowd. But for me the standouts were easily (and surprisingly) 'Ordinary World' and 'Mediterranea'. The former of which Simon made mention of trying to find peace in the world, or something like that, the latter had something to do with the English being drunk on vacation and trying to annoy the Germans. Also, he said it was the first time they'd ever played it live and we were the first group to hear it! And then he added at the end "try not to drown" ![]() Very nice. Im quite in awe of this band and they played an awesomely brilliant set. EVERY SONG, OLD OR NEW, WAS AWESOME AND SOUNDED AMAZING! My bladder was about to explode thanks to plenty of cheap beer and i had to run to the restroom during the encore and missed part of 'a view to a kill', ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway i couldn't be more pleased with last nights show. my pictures sucked but i did take some nice videos and i got a cool t shirt. I hope this fabulous new album (Simon says, and i agree) takes off for them and they get around more and play more shows to more people. They left us last night by saying "we'll see you down the road.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Setlist: All You Need Is Now Being Followed The Reflex Notorious Safe (In the Heat of the Moment) Friends Of Mine Leave a Light On Ordinary World Mediterranea Girl Panic! Careless Memories (Reach Up For The) Sunrise Wild Boys Rio Encore: A View To A Kill Girls on Film |

I am THRILLED to hear no Hungry Like the wolf or Come Undone. While I like the studio versions of those songs, they are TIRED when played live for us old Duranies.
I really hope they add Runway Runaway as it is by far my favorite song on the album. Now I've gone and gotten sick this weekend, so I sure hope I'm better by next week! |

Kinda surprised there was no "Man Who Stole a Leopard" played considering all of the fan appreciation!

If anyone watched them on Leno tonight, someone might be asking Simon when Bono's going to call for his glasses back!
![]() Huge fan, and in all honesty, I'm probably a bigger Duran fan than a U2 fan. After seeing both bands live though, I'd hold them on about an equal footing. Still great shows, though I have a feeling I never caught DD at their peak, whenever that was (perhaps during the reunion tour dates a few years back). Bought the CD today as well. Favorites so far are probably The Man Who Stole a Leopard, Girl Panic, Being Followed, and Too Bad You're So Beautiful. Will be heading to the Minneapolis and Chicago dates in April myself. If any of you people are heading there too, let me know! |

I also saw them on Leno last night and I was thinking "wow, Simon is sporting the Fly glasses." I liked them though.

They posted a thing on Facebook that they're rehearsing for the Unstaged show, and are rehearsing The Man Who Stole a Leopard with Kelis.
![]() Dress rehearsal for Unstaged! Simon and Kelis belt out "The Man Who Stole a Leopard" while the production crew figures out how best to use their seven enormous cameras. Dress rehearsal gave everyone chills, it was so incredible. Make sure to tune into the livestream! |

As for them hitting their peak, other than their early-mid 80's heyday or maybe 93, i don't know. I do say this new album is fantastic. I'm a bigger u2 fan than DD, but honestly, i cant remember the last time u2 put out a new album as good as "all you need is now". Certainly hasn't been this decade...and i like ATYCLB, HTDAAB, & NLOTH. Just saying! If DD's new album isn't a "hit" or sell a lot of copies and produce at least one radio "hit" single, then the entire music business (mgmt, not the artists) needs to just fold up shop and call it quits. I'm hoping they play 'man who stole a leopard' tonight. But i also got to say that 'mediterranea' is absurdly good live. |

This is probably their most consistent album since Rio in terms of song quality. I'm not too big on some of the extra tracks added to the itunes release, but they have struck the right chord here. And most of the fanbase seems to be happy with it, so everybody wins here I guess. Mediterranea did sound alright live, though even Leave a Light On did too from a video I saw from a TV performance recently. On top of that, the band is in rehearsals with Kelis for the Leopard song, so they should be playing that tonight. 14 minutes! |
