Drake Says He's the First Person to Successfully Rap and Sing

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I don't hate Drake, don't love him either, but this statement is obviously ridiculous.

Has he never heard of the motherfucking BONE THUGS N HARMONY?

I wonder how much that fool knows about the history of the genre he makes money from

Seeing these 90s hip-hop videos in here reminded me of how the artists used to announce who they were in the song itself - like Boyz to Men in that Motown Philly song. That was a clever marketing gimmick.

Lauryn Hill is really the only name that needs to be mentioned here, since she's superlative at both things.

But yes, Mos Def is a better than good singer.

The other examples, though? Missy Elliot can't really sing. And as pointed out yesterday, Andre 3000 is merely passable. Frank Ocean isn't a rapper. Biz Markie can't sing, and no one cares about his rapping.

Is this more about rappers who can also sing?
Rather than singers who rapped 'successfully'.
Because...Debbie Harry and Rapture (a #1 song) from 1980 says hello.

The setlist I looked at made it appear that he was on every song and the other people were guests
