Please vote for the playlist you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the first match of the first round for Interference Desert Island V! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

For every win, each player will receive three points. If there is a tie, each player gets two points. If a player loses a match but is within three votes of the winner, that player will earn a single point.

At the beginning of each round, I will include the updated standings. Remember, the top two from each group moves on to the quarterfinals.

Our schedule is as follows:

One final note: If you haven't listened to all the playlists, and you don't think you'll have time to get through them, I would urge everyone to at least review how each playlist is structured and, if possible, to check out the sequencing and flow of the songs. I'd also take the time to listen to a song by an artist you are unfamiliar with, or any song by an artist you usually dislike, as sometimes you may hear something you never thought you would have from that artist.

So with that out of the way, let's kick this thing off. Our first two lucky players are Zootlesque and phillyfan26. Below are their playlists.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each playlist flows, feel free to check out the Desert Island website. :)

These Boots Are Made For Knockin’

As the title suggests, this playlist is filled with panty droppers! But it is not all slow bedroom music. Everyone’s definition of the word “sexy” is different. Some associate it with smooth jazzy R&B numbers. Some think of sexy rock riffs and lyrical innuendo. And some others may prefer stylish dance party music. I have tried to accommodate all of that and much more. There are a few unconventional picks that might make you go WTF until you pay attention to the lyrics or get into the groove. Anyway, everyone’s interpretation is different and I hope there’s enough on here to please all of you listening. So dim the lights, burn some incense, grab a drink, sit back and enjoy.

UP NEXT: LemonMacPhisto vs. GirlsAloudFan

Competition master list.

Have fun!

PFan has one one of my favorite lists this time around. Like I said in the RD thread, Zoots. You did really well putting your list together this time, but it wasn't really my type of thing. PFan it is.

I have no idea who to vote for here. The songs are about equally good. Zoots' list keeps nicely to one theme, while Pfan's list is extremely versatile, and both have great flow. Generally speaking, I consider flow to be largely what separates lists apart in quality. If they have equally good flow, the one with the greatest flow and versatility wins out.

Pfan it is.

Gah, you had to put them against each other, didn't you?! :madwife:

Sorry, Zoots, when I think about it, Pfan it is.

Tough round. Still deciding. Listening again to pfan's while I work. That Chicago song might be the clincher for me :hmm:

phillyfan. sorry zoots, it just wasn't my style, for the most part. Philly's was great except towards the end where it lost me a bit.

Good luck, Zoots. You had one of the more interesting concepts this time around, I like that.

I don't think the results of this match so far are really indicative of zoot's playlist this time, which I think is much stronger and better constructed than his previous one.

It has more to do with the fact that he's facing pfan right off the bat, who has put together an exceptional playlist this time out.

That's exactly how I feel.

Oh man, the game is afoot! This is gonna be fun.

I really like both lists but The UtleyFan's was one of my very favorites. He gets my vote.

Sorry Zoots :reject:

I really like Zoots' list, it hangs together really well (major nostalgia points for Justify My Love!), but I think he copped a raw deal coming up against pfan right off the bat, cos I'm voting for pfan's list too.

I love Wet Sand... in fact, the whole section from about there to Pearl Jam or so is made of extra win.

I thought Pfan put together a much better list this time and there were a couple new things I liked, and that's what I really like discovering from these contests. But the second half was just a bit too commercial for me, I kinda lost interest.

Zoots on the other hand, though a bit too r&b for me had a pretty good 2nd half. I appreciated the attempt at getting people horny. Points scored. I thought after playing this I would be getting a little action from Lila, but that didn't happen. Points deducted. I did, however, find myself walking around the house afterwards saying things like "Ooh baby, you feel soooooooo good". Points scored for personality transformation :)

Zootles in this round

3 straight posts with that laugh smiley... keep it going, folks.

But honestly Zoots, the first round is rarely indicative of how the rest of the tourney plays out. Last time, I got blown out by Irishteen and then went on to make it to the semis... opinions change over time and according to the match-ups, so I wouldn't fret about anything just yet.
