Good as it is, I'll take Power, Corruption, and Lies through Republic.

Depeche Mode

It's good, but at this point I hope it's not the best song on the album.

Huh. Well, sorta let down. Fairly solid, but really don't like the bridge section...
Hoping there are stronger songs on the album.

For me, my favorite run from them was Black Celebration through Violator. I never really cared all that much for SOFAD.

But Black Celebration through Violator . . . god that was some great stuff!

I've never got round to listening to Depeche Mode properly, what album should I start with?

Many will say Violator because it was their biggest-selling album, but it's a little downbeat, a little quieter IMO. I think Music For The Masses is a little more accessible and energetic, and broke them out to a larger audience before they really hit the big time, reaching #35 on the Billboard 200 (Violator would make it to #7).

Plus, Never Let Me Down is one of the best album openers of the decade.

Songs of Faith and Devotion is a pretty good starting point too. The opening trio of I Feel You, Walking In My Shoes and Condemnation is massive.

Songs of ... was a bit of a departure for them I'd say make that a second or third, I actually was introduced to DM through 101, it's a great live album and covers a nice portion of their first few albums.
