For some reason I got it in my head that this album was called 'A Month of Sundays'. The actual title is no less bland.

Have only heard a couple songs from the newest one thus far-"Adventure" I didn't mind, the other was "eh"...but the talk about it has me really curious

but other than Adele (who is clearly an aberration) show me other acts like Coldplay whose sales numbers are not declining, regardless of the quality of their output.

Pearl Jam declined 12%
Maroon 5 declined 26%
Arcade Fire declined 15%
Vampire Weekend rose 8%
Arctic Monkeys rose 71%
Black Keys declined 20%

Coldplay declined 50%

Man, I couldn't care less about record sales if I tried. Most of my favorite bands probably don't make enough to not have to have day jobs.

Fair enough, that is a larger than usual decline... I doubt I'll be buying it any time soon, that's for sure.

Well, for what it's worth, I wasn't really just saying "that's the way it is." I was more saying "I think this is a special case."

Coldplay hardly announced the album, and they're already trying to recover from an album that commercially didn't stand up next to its predecessor. I think they're going after a different model right now, and it's about the single, not the album. And I think both of the first two singles will catch on.

Stark contrast from what I believe of U2. Nothing short of revolutionary sound will catch on from them. Their decline in commercial success is simply because they're not cool anymore. I beg to differ about Coldplay.

So I've given this a few spins... very lukewarm overall.

I like the title track, Birds, Adventure of a Lifetime is shallow but it's fun and not too insulting. I love Up & Up... and that's about it. Rest is disposable at best and shockingly bad at worst.
