Belle and Sebastian - The Third Eye Centre
Rough Trade Records on 26th August / Matador Records (in the US) on 27th August.

^Yes! I'm excited about this, even though the period it will cover is not nearly as good as Push Barman.

I'm disappointed it has a remix of Your Cover's Blown, but not the original song. I guess they want people to buy that EP. I probably should do that. Regardless, looking forward to the compilation.

I tried listening to their last album and it was godawful. The music was terrible, the vocals were terrible, and the lyrics were abysmal. I truly couldn't make it past 3 or 4 songs.

Apparently the whole album was about the dude's divorce but I just couldn't take it.

EDIT: Um, I'll add it to the list.

I didn't even make it past the first single from that record. I tried watching the video for it, turned it off halfway through, and never even listened to the album.

But I own all their other stuff (all of which I like save Approaching Normal), and I have a touch of hope that this new one will be some kind of return to form after hearing the lead single, which isn't too bad. I wanted to add it to the list because I do plan to give it at least one listen when it comes out.

July 30: Earl Sweatshirt - Doris

It's pretty much just this until late August, when shit gets crazy again.

Real hyped for that one. Anyone know who's producing it? He gets a good producer and strays from the fuckwittery of the rest of OF and it could be a classic.

CZARFACE, Acidrap and Run the Jewels my favs so far this year.

Pharrell, The Neptunes, BADBADNOTGOOD and Om'mas Keith (Channel Orange) are some names I've seen used in conjunction with Doris. Presumably, Tyler will contribute some production as well, which would be cool.

Fuck yeah!

Isn't it just one word, though? And in all caps?

ARTPOP.

At least that's how it was first announced, like over a year ago. This fucking thing has taken forever.

For the three people who might care:

Gogol Bordello - Pura Vida Conspiracy on July 23

Apparently this was announced months ago. How did I miss this?

I'm going to have Start Wearing Purple in my head for the rest of the morning.

OK, I think this is all up to date, but let me know if I missed anything. I went through every album in the TBA section and couldn't find solid release dates for any of the ones still there.

It looks like the Neil Finn album may not come out until early next year, even though it's essentially finished. I guess the powers that be want more time to promote it or whatever.

Ugh, Gogol Bordello. I liked their first album initially cos they were like a Ukrainian version of the Pogues and I thought that was cool. But that got very old an very annoying very, very quickly.

I think that's an extremely reductionist take on GB. Where I could see them being annoying, their music is far, far more eclectic and varied than a Ukrainian Pogues label would suggest.

But grating if you don't feel it, absolutely.

They're the perfect festival band. Mindless entertainment.
