Here it is, warts and all.

Since the start of 06 or 07 I've bought/downloaded a shitload of albums (most of the following are legit copies) and I'm pretty happy with what I've got here.

I just want to know what is glaringly missing, are there any renowned classics that I'm missing? Should I get more indie? Can you make recommendations based on the list?

I've got a lot of albums I want but not enough money for them all and no idea where to start. Haven't got into a new artist in a while.

The other thing is I just bought an iPod classic (160GB I think it is, or 120) so I can fit heaps more music. I've currently got 17.96GB worth.

So please, discuss, appreciate, criticise, recommend as you please!

It's certainly a big leap from where you were, which is obviously fantastic. I'll write more later, since I'm not sure where to begin with right now (don't take that as an insult, there's just a lot on the plate), but I'll definitely post here or PM you within the next day or two.

I'd probably break the thread if I contributed to it, plus a lot of my favorite albums I listen to on Rhapsody so I never bothered to burn them. That said, it is Christmas break and I have nothing else to do.

I never even know what to do, in these threads. I guess my best advice is to listen to everything you haven't already heard. That's always suited me quite well.

Well for one thing, I'd say, with a lot of these bands, if you liked what you heard, listen to their other albums (Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Meat Loaf, Pulp etc.)

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead

These albums will probably blow your mind.

And I find it intriguing how the one Oasis album you own is Heathen Chemistry (of all albums).

cheers bonnie!

been meaning to check these out for ages, but i can never find them for the right price at JB.

re oasis - i know, the reason is i bought it for like 3 dollars at cash converters, i never listen to it.

Check out Whats the Story Morning Glory and Dig Out Your Soul by Oasis

Heathen Chemistry is ok - probably their worst but still an 8/10 album
Stop Crying Your Heart Out and Little By Little are awesome
A Quick Peep is pointless
The b-sides to the singles were amazing. If Shout it Out Loud and Thank You for the Good Times were on there instead of a Quick Peep and Force of Nature it would be a great album

Check out This is My Truth, Tell Me Yours by the Manic Street Preachers
or Forever Delayed which is their greatest hits package - amazing band

I'd sell the Creed album, if possible, and pick up some more Flaming Lips, like Transmissions from the Satellite Heart or Clouds Taste Metallic.

that's what i meant by "warts and all". i'll confess i enjoyed it back in the day, but haven't listened to it in years so perhaps you're right.

and

Embryonic ended up being one of my favourites of the year, if not the favourite.

oasis albums are a long way down the line for me i'm afraid chums.

any reason that better man song goes for 36 minutes?

Shit song that Better man one. Just pretentiousness, about 30 of those minutes are silence and then a hidden instrumental track called The Cage kicks in, and is actually quite good.

Good list, I'd suggest listening to Alligator by the National and the Back Room by Editors. I like a bunch of your albums and these are two of my favorites, so maybe you'll enjoy them too.

Goblin Cock, for starters. Those albums are hilarious.

Also worth adding...

Anal Cunt: Everyone Should Be Killed
Big Black: Songs About Fucking
Dayglo Abortions: Two Dogs Fucking
Rapeman: Two Nuns and a Pack Mule
The Crucifucks: Wisconsin
Goatwhore: Carving out the Eyes of God

...and, of course, pretty much by GG Allin and any of his bands--The Scumfucs, The Texas Nazis, The Murder Junkies, etc..

Mmmm, Rapeman. Good album, that.

Danny, you should definitely listen to Big Black. Get The Hammer Party, too.

Wonderful collection! Lots of variety!

I would recommend Verve - Urban Hymns.

As for indie: I am a huge Phoenix fan now. "1901" is in a car commerical now.

Band of Horses are amazing.

Silversun Pickups are brilliant. They have a hit on the radio now called, "Panic Switch." "Lazy Eye" is amazing too.

I share a very similar musical taste with you; I'd highly recommend Muse.

I'm looking forward to taking a look at some of the albums you posted that I may have missed :)
