This is a poem I reworked before I read scatteroflight's piece with a similar title. I wasn't sure whether I should go ahead and post it. I really enjoyed her piece, but it made me feel a little sophmoric about mine.

Without You and With You

Wherever you are - near, maybe far...
Never beside me, yet always with me.

Faint streams of memories just below surface...
- ripples of consciousness as ardent companions.

It could have been years or just moments ago.
My dearest of friends, where did you go?

Crumbling spans of love, never to be reconstructed...
- connected only in spirit and unfulfilled wishes.

I feel I can?t live - without you and with you
Struggling to live - without you and with you
Determined to live - without you and with you
In time, I will live - without you and with you...

Until that day comes, when I see your vibrant face again
in the reflection of His.

And love is not the easy thing... The only baggage you can bring... Is all that you can't leave behind.

Thanks for your comments about my poem, but actually I think yours is coming from somewhere a lot deeper, especially since I remember reading about your very sad experience. Mine was just therapy to get over a crush

Though I am still quite happy with it considering I wrote it over 3 years ago when I was 18. Thank you for sharing something so deeply felt. I actually found this poem a bit hard to read because of the emotion involved.
