a vex to stop the flow of red - a singular moment in time when poetry didn't make sense

I saw her hands held high
remind me of the crucifix
but then I didn't cry
a spell
a chant
a voodoo curse of sorts

she didn't mention lizards tongues
or newts warts or any sort of thing
but there was something about mayhem
traveling fast on a bird's wing

a whisper and a murmur
a scream then came out
and what she said was exactly
what I was thinking about

"Let him rot
Let him writhe
Let him stew in his own pot
And when he thinks he's all alone
Let he know that I haven't forgot
Lonely words
Solemn prayers
honest poems from late at night
Let him then recite everything
in the darkness with no candle light"

With that she closed her eyes
Stood back and took a breath
My heart fluttered, my soul shook
I barely knew the rest-
I only hope that you understand
I hope you see the depth
From now until the end of times
May you not meet his death!

I don't believe in karma or curses. I do know that I am a bit upset.
