I am pretty bored now so I am checking on the other sub-forums here in Interference. And I stumbled upon this. I have written a poem or two, but that was during my student days and because it was required by English class. I've only ever written one poem --- ever! I wrote this sometime in 2003 I think. Here is it and please give me your honest assessment. Maybe after your replies I can give you some explanation or my inspiration on why I wrote this poem.

"Trying To Be Like You"

A hot facade is left exposed
yet a cold depth within awaits
Your silence may keep you enclosed
but your actions open the gates

Chains of conformity you break
with feet firmly planted aground
You're the antithesis of fake
Creative ideas abound

Through your unique eyes I can see
colors I've never seen before
Though protected you remain free
to be yourself and be much more

And now deep thoughts pervade
about things I wish to do
The more taken path I'll evade
because I'm trying to be like you

Very good diction although the tempo of the piece leaves something to be desired but it's a lovely piece with a sentiment I strongly agree with
