Kind of a co-incidence I should see/write this today, having just read Bebe's Moments...

Tranquility amid the Hive

Student, sleeping on the grass,
Let the springtime sweetness pass
Let time go by in dozy haze
Forget exams through warming days.

Let October's gentle heat soak in,
Unknowing when will rain begin
Let fragrance of young grass and flowers
Restore your soul within its powers.

Face-down you slumber in the sun
Alas, your lunchtime's nearly done.
A shadow creeps up on you now
Cast by the Physics building's brow.

Awaken, scuttle off to class,
To learn and cram and try to pass.
But remember here you slept and dreamed
There's more to life here than it seemed.

ahhh yes, I certainly remember days like that at the Uni, except it was April here in the Northern Hemisphere... and I stayed away from the Physics buildings

------------------
I went out there
In search of experience
To taste and to touch
And to feel as much
As a man can
Before he repents

uni students all over the world must just lay in the grass.

This is one of my faves of yours yet, Ali.Reminds me of Staring at the sun.

Those physics students....hehe

i miss uni

I bet you have all heard this but I love telling it.

What did the BA student say to the Economics student?

" Do you want fries with that?"

*L* I didn't even realise Bono used the same rhyme (grass/pass) in the 1st 2 lines of SATS that I did there... well, not consciously anyway.
It wasn't actually the physics building's shadow, but it was close...! That sounded better than "random clump of lecture theatres"...

I'm not the only one, staring at the sun
Afraid of what you'd find
If you took a look inside...

I adore these poems of yours, Alisaura.

And I definitely agree with you guys about Physics buildings.. that was my worst subject.

I never took anything resembling Physics in uni. I'm smart. I studied poetry and stuff.

This poem speaks to me

I miss uni too. Especially being in the somewhat boring world of work. The last stanza reminds me of something in Shakespeare. Seriously. I wish I could remember what it was.
