Day turning night
You threw a blanket over the blue-grey sky
Light turning dark
I shiver and then I?m okay

No stars tonight
I don?t miss them
Glittering white pinpricks
Like the metal between my fingers

And I know stars that die
Stars that turn red
Deep running pinpricks in a raven sky
Until there is nothing left

Would anyone miss me
A violet star on the horizon of dusk and dawn
If I turned crimson and ran to the other side of the earth
With the sun

There is no way I can ever know
How it feels to not always look over my shoulder
To see a shadow of perfection
And touch but not grasp
Reflection of the moon

When someone told me
That those red stars fled and dipped below the ground
And then rose out of the ground
I stared in disbelief
Those haggard ethereal eyes telling me it?s true
That those stars turned white again
And shone out for all the clouds to see
For all the crimson stars

But I am violet
So this can never be

You know how people wish on the stars?
I wish someone would wish on me.

And I know stars that die
Stars that turn red
Deep running pinpricks in a raven sky
Until there is nothing left

To see a shadow of perfection
And touch but not grasp
Reflection of the moon

You know how people wish on the stars?
I wish someone would wish on me.
