The Journey

It doesn’t make a difference
when the hole is too deep
so many faces
so many places
yet none are meant for me
except the journey
the one travelled
to find the one thing of importance
to join those who know the destiny
which await journey’s end.

I will follow that star which guides
it is timeless time
with no beginning and no end
it is the future and the present
a land of living and dead
where faces are hidden
by hooded garments
and travel is horse or by foot
for the terrain is perilous
but the reward is far greater
than anything upon this earth.

Along the path the challenges are many
I have been there before
but I must travel yet again
for destiny calls and I am needed.
With sword and shaft beside me
I will accept the challenge
venture with the others as
we set forth upon the journey
with the power and spirit
bestowed upon us.

It doesn’t make a difference
when the purpose is too shallow
so many faces
so many places
yet none are meant for me
except the journey
the one travelled
to find the one thing of importance
to join those who know the destiny
which await journey’s end.

IMHO, that's the best thing you've written so far. This could be a prayer for anyone who is travelling, physically or mentally.

Very timeless quality to it as well. I feel like this could have been written hundreds of years ago.

Nice work.

Yeah, that definltely strikes a chord with me...

Not only do I just like swords and all that, but....

it is something I could see on a poster in my room, perhaps one of a seaway or old road or something...

Themes of distance, travel, and adventure, I realize now, seem to draw me...

I like it

I also feel this is one of your best pieces, wizard. It gave me a great sense of pride. It also gave me the feeling of "just hang in there, you'll make it". And yes, quite timeless.

Great work! :)
