Spinning Wheels

Hey, guys! So many great poems to read and not enough time to read them all! Grrrr. I guess that's what I get for being a busy bee. Anyway, here's something of mine....

Spinning wheels, going nowhere
I sink further in the mud
I don't know where I thought I was going but I didn't plan this stop
And now I'm stuck.
And you've passed me by.
And I can only hope to hitch a ride.
It's miles to the next town but I need a change of scenery
OR maybe I need to change me
Either way I'm far from where I wanted to end up
In fact, I'm back where I started.
Older, but I'm not sure about wiser
I'm not sure about much of anything.
So I'll rest here I guess and muster the courage to walk myself out of here
It's not as glamourous as the ride but at least I'm not spinning wheels.

I took a wrong turn somewhere
And it led me here to this (to you)
There were warnings posted: Dead End Ahead
But I paid no attention (since when have I ever?)
And now, hopelessly lost, I try to find myself
In someone else (in anyone else)
Another lost cause
(My loss)

most poetry has a sort of time gone by feel to it - i liked this a lot because of it's subject (the car at least) placing it in the modern world

yep, I can certainly relate, just started a new job that is a bit of a disappointment to my lofty dreams, but I'll get there someday
