Hey everyone! I was not aware that we had a thriving Poet's corner.. I'm more than happy to jump in if there aren't any objections

I have made a few attempts at poetry. I see no better way to find out about yourself and sort through your feelings. And to be able to share this inspiration with others is great

I'm amazed at what I've read in this forum! Deep stuff.. It's great to see people so in touch with themselves.. here's one that I like to call 'slide'... Be gentle -- I'm a beginner

SLIDE

It's too late to run
Instead I must slide.
At times this slide spirals
And reluctantly I ride.

Plunged into steam
As confusion sets in my eyes.
I ask questions as I fall
But all I hear are the lies.

I want to take control,
Be in charge of my fate,
But I fear it's too late...

The times are changing,
Yet this detail remains:
When my cries pierce the silence,
They echo my name.

My cries call me in the darkness,
For they know me well.
But why must they haunt me,
As I slide into hell?

I want to gain control,
And slide through that gate,
But I fear it's too late...
