I think girls actually make the best friends sometimes, can be more comforting, and easy going, not so competitive, more reasonable and as you said rewarding..I think you brought all these parts together nicely

How does a simple goodbye last so long
And weigh down your shoulders like its made of stone
How does one star in the sky keep its light
Follow you around & guide you through the night

But if I was lost you would show me the flow

Thank you, this poem put me in a good mood tonite! It was calming to read.

Heres a song I just wrote:

Why do bent over trees still sway in the wind
And dance in the breeze like a city of friends
Why do books never read keep their hope
And fall in the lap of some teenage dope

In the hardest rain...She comes and she stays
Even though...They may say

I'm not your kind & your not my style
But If I was dry you would show me the flow
I'm not your boss and your not my cross
But if I was lost you would show me the flow

How does a simple goodbye last so long
And weigh down your shoulders like its made of stone
How does one star in the sky keep its light
Follow you around & guide you through the night

In the coldest flurries...Thats when she hurries
Even though...They still worry

I'm not your kind, your not my style
But If I was dry you would show me the Flow (etc.)

Bridge: Do I hear wedding bells?
Or do I just hear more of myself?
Cause we crossed a desert on our own
And we laugh like fools in the snow
Even though...Oh no

I'm not your kind, your not my style
But if I was dry you would show me the flow
I'm not your boss & you will be not my cross
But if I was lost you would show me the flow

And like a rainbow on the radio...she will show

Thanks.
Its about having a female as your best friend. Its not easy when you have dated before. But its extremely rewarding.

Those lines are great, and the last one, too. Like the rainbow, she'll show on the radio. The only line I feel is out of place is the one with 'wedding bells'; only because the imagery seems frivolous amidst your other serious and more poetic lines; the rhyming of bells and self is forced, I guess, but HEY. That is just my humble opinion. I honestly like the song, on the whole. You got the music?

I'd love to hear this set to music.

Acrob@t: I completely agree with you. Having a female as my best friend has allowed me to share a unique connection with someone. And yes there is a special kind of closeness that we bring to each other. You can explore feelings and emotions that you would be otherwise reluctant to do with your "buddies" or "da boyz" so to speak.

Foray: Yes I have written music with this and when I play it at bars and open mic nights I like to throw in a line from "One" at the end of my song: "We get to carry each other, carry each other.."
And as far as the "wedding bells" line goes I wanted to bring it more down to earth in the bridge section. I wanted to be blunt rather than flighty. But I see where you are coming from because it does seem a little out of place. But the symbolism there is a conflict between what is important(weddings, traditional crap) as opposed to what should be REALLY important (seeing ourselves and learning more about ourselves through our loved ones)

Thank you all!!

it's funny, I think guys make the best friends
until I decide I'm crazy about them, that is

How does a simple goodbye last so long
And weigh down your shoulders like its made of stone
How does one star in the sky keep its light
