[color=royal blue]Anyone else into Roethke?

"I'll make a broken music, or I'll die"

"I have prayed long that she might leave her skin,
and, leaving, she would ask me in."

"My hair grows an inch -- I too am I world"

"Dear God, I want it all: the depths and the heights"

"Love: looks and sounds like murder"

"Those Catholic pitcures always scared the living Jesus out of me.....

"What am I, a spiritual gigolo?"

"I broke my tongue on God"

"Much of poetry is an anguished waiting"

He also wrote a lot about teaching bc he was a teacher. I had the best relationships with some teachers in high school, so I really like him.... This guy is practically my favorite poet, besides Bruce Smith who also loveth Theodore Roethke.

I don't agree with everything he says, but the fact that he SAYS it and the WAY he says it.....loveth :)

"If poetry can kill you, I'm like to die"
