Nostalgia strikes

I never post here anymore
because, to be completely honest, I'm VERY intimidated by your stuff

there are some true poets here
poets in every sense of the term

My stuff seems borning and cliche

oh well...this is what comes to my head, so who am I to not write it down?

-----------------

Songs change in time
their meanings get lost as the river sweeps by - into the sea

I once tore my soul
for words to this waltz, but you drifted on by - the memories still bite

Nostalgia strikes
when I finally feel joy, oh the irony's not lost on this man

I thought I heard a voice...
and my dreams they all smothered my sleep, the room is closing in
But I feel the lines breaking off as I fight to let go of the past
I swear to you here - these dreams will not last

Sometimes I think back
enchanting nights that I wished would not end

They all shattered like glass
and every hope I built my life on were washed far away

....

I'm not standing anymore

..I've always felt this is one place where you shouldn't feel intimidated. Maybe shy, and reclusive for whatever reasons which I feel so often. I've never kept anything I've written back from this place because many others do it so much better than I do.. I don't see Dream Out Loud in that way. Hope you don't stay a stranger longer than you have to Basstrap. Nice poem!

I don't think this is cliche. lovely is more the word. and I can relate to it.

Listen to what Acro said, I understand what you're feeling but we enjoy having you share here!

very nice, esp the "voice" and image of dreams smothering a person.

and I the use of "waltz" here.

I really loved this one...And I think you write beautifully, Kirk. Everyone has their own style. Thats what makes this place so fun.

Now turn it into another great song for us!

I really like that poem.

And you shouldn't feel intimidated...although I know how you feel! I feel the same way... besides everything else, I've been away and the place has moved on and there are a lot of unfamiliar ppl here and other familiar ppl have vanished. Or changed, but that happens. I've changed.

Anyway, point is, keep writing and posting! I like this. As long as some one gets something out of it, it's worth it, right?
