Miles Away

Gazing at my friend,
Though what else is it that I see?
A confused little boy dressed up in a man's body,
Staring right through me.

So I begin to speak,
And ask him what he's done today.
Nothing much, except contemplating those questions
That he doesn't like to explain.

Miles and Miles Away...

What is it that you want me to say?

He asks me if I believe in God,
And I say I do.
He yells at me for sharing a blind faith with everyone else,
But I'm the only one in the room.

He then asks if I believe in love,
And my answer is yes.
I'm sure he'll disagree with that notion,
At least, that's just my guess.

What is it that you want me to say?

This conversation,
Has been going on for hours.
The more he disagrees with me,
The more his voice gets louder.

I'm not satisfied with today's talk,
As my friend has much still to learn.
Depressed and giving up hope,
I turn away from the mirror.

Very good. I've been there many a time........mirrors are great, in fact I'm so good at it I don't even need a mirror anymore.
