Meanwhile.. Back at Mahler



Tonight
we uncovered
and re re re discovered
the incredible fourth.
Profoundly perfectly
mournful
prolonged depression
stuck with discordant outbursts
of wailing desperation
pain
ultimately exultant
in a child's poem of heaven
but
'freund hein spielt auf'
'death strikes up'
beforehand
an oboist on an underground ferry
pulling melancholy to the depths
beautiful tragic
tearful magic
a simple series
a theme as a thread through a song
enwoven as a hem
in a cloak of black and gold
a shroud
or spectacular shawl
simply in shadow?

OMG! I just replied to another of your poems in here and was quite amazed with your talent. Now, reading this equally stunning poem I'm not surprised- lol, I know you don't I? The style of your poem belongs to one of my fave poets (lol, you that is) I've always admired. Am I right?
