Meanwhile Back at Mahler

Meanwhile.. Back at Mahler

Tonight
we uncovered
and re re re discovered
the incredible fourth.
Profoundly perfectly
mournful
prolonged depression
stuck with discordant outbursts
of wailing desperation
pain
ultimately exultant
in a child's poem of heaven
but
'freund hein spielt auf'
'death strikes up'
beforehand
an oboist on an underground ferry
pulling melancholy to the depths
beautiful tragic
tearful magic
a simple series
a theme as a thread through a song
enwoven as a hem
in a cloak of black and gold
a shroud
or spectacular shawl
simply in shadow?

OMG! I just replied to another of your poems in here and was quite amazed with your talent. Now, reading this equally stunning poem I'm not surprised- lol, I know you don't I? The style of your poem belongs to one of my fave poets (lol, you that is) I've always admired. Am I right?

I'm so glad to see you here. I've always loved your poems and your sense of humour. - lol but we've a new audience here so you'll have to endure a few of my poems you've likely read before.
