to still sell out the stadiums
get sixty thousand on their feet
when all they want is the hits
we have become a jukebox on repeat

to still put up the record sales
even though the excitement's gone
records are sold with a brandname
we have become a corperate pawn

so our prime is way behind us
we're ripping off of our own songs

all the books in the house have been read
we've said everything there is to be said, now
we're running out, no ideas here anymore
you can only play so much before you're played out

to still be adding to our mantles
giving them a few more grammy awards
that we really don't deserve anymore
we just played the same three chords

so our prime is way behind us now
we're ripping off of our own songs

all the books in the house have been read
we've said everything there is to be said, now
we're running out, no ideas here anymore
you can only play so much before you're played out

two decades, been through it all
got filthy rich, brought a big house
did some drugs, got laid a few times
me and the fast road were a cat and mouse
but I'm not twenty anymore

are we washed up, are we finished
if we have become a late night punchline
we can't keep going down this road
with the same old riff and same old rhyme

can't keep longing for our prime
can't keep ripping off of our own songs

all the books in the house have been read
we've said everything there is to be said now
we're running out, no ideas here anymore
you can only play so much before you're played out

to be legends of the industry at forty-five
to be great-grandfathers in MTV's eyes
to no longer be a band against the world
we are the aging sellouts we once despised

It's about U2 although I still don't think they've sold out however the Acrobat reference is well implemented, I don't see the point of such negativity though, it will get us or the band nowhere:wink:

That's the nature of the beast

But U2 is at least better than the stones.... I mean... they pushed for the Highest Ticket Price ever at my loval Pepsi Stadium.

But I don't really get U2 fans who really bash U2 by saying they are totally past their prime. I mean, I can respect that, but no one is making you listen to their music, you know?

............

But you can dream
so

Dream out loud
