Invisible Love

Dirty denim hides your skin
Protecting tell-tale scars
Billboards for the victory of your loss
The staircase pulls you forward
Taunting you with memories
Bridges that you just can't seem to cross

The night is telling stories
No one else can understand
Tales of the cold sweetheart in your car
Promises pollute the air
Flower petals grace the floor
A stage to help keep you from going far

The shoebox under your bed
Is filled with fair-weather friends
Once you go deaf, they will start to sing
Photographs try to tell you
Of the lovers in your life
But medicated smiles don't mean a thing

The one who truly loves you
Is the one you left behind
Needles tangled up in Christmas lights
So break your songbird's beak off
If it helps to ease the guilt
I'll still hum through all the days and nights

i like this line..i am sure these are unkept promises

But medicated smiles don't mean a thing

i like this one too

There are some great lines in this. "break your songbird's beak off", love it!

"A stage to help keep you from going far"
trips me up though - the stress is in the wrong place, I think. What about
"A stage to hold you, stop you going far"
or (from out of left field)
"A stage to keep you in your plastic jar"!
(Are we allowed to do this in here? Apologies if not)
