If I Should Die

I can't bear the thought
Of leaving you
Yet to live and die
We are meant to do
So listen darling
As I tell
These words of love
While I am well
It hurts me to think
That you will cry
Without me there
To dry your eye
It hurts me to imagine
You alone at night
Without my loving arms
To hold you tight
Remember me darling
Yet grieve not long
But heal your heart
Please be strong
Keep the special
Times we had
Yet open your heart
And be not sad
Let there come to you
Another love
Bless'd by me
In Heaven above
I'll always love you
Though we be apart
But to think of you alone
Will break my heart
I love you now
And for eternity
But in my death
I'll set you free
That you may love
And live once more
My darling, my love,
Forevermore.

Laurie

This is lovely Laurie, so many people are afraid to find love again, when they have lost their partner, which is sad if you are young. This poem is sad for me, as my mother-in-law, she is alone, does not want to find or have companionship after the death of her husband, I feel that, even to share your life with someone even if it is just as a close friendship, is something more than being alone. I feel sad that my mother-in-law will not let anyone get close, sadly, she has isolated her life from others.
