This is something I wrote about 3 months months ago and just kind of forgot about. It's not all that great, but hell, it's a lot more optimistic than the stuff I've been writing lately. How I wish I could go back to that feeling...

Ear to Ear

I plod along my normal routine
Unsuspecting of it's silent approach
Trivial thoughts pass through my mind
As it whispers quietly into the back

Distracted, I continue my tasks
And it creeps up in a passing thought
A brief whisper of a smile
Passes over my face

Now I pause to think
Of where that thought came from
And suddenly it leaps upon me
Confronts me full in the face

I can no longer hide
In my normal routine
The grin attaches itself
My routine stops as I cherish the moment

It creates my own private world
Reliving the joy of that moment passed
And it holds me there
And for a time all is right.

hey, I really like this one Diemen! the past can hold some beautiful stuff sometimes, and for the most part, I love remembering (just so long as it's not dwelling)
