So did I... maybe specially since a close friend had an "internet romance" and is now married to the guy on the other side of the planet...

My closest net friend is going through the same thing. I always make fun of her and say that I'm going to be the flower girl at their wedding.

How long had they been doing whatever it was they were doing, before they met and then how long after that before the wedding?

Im just curious cause all I ever hear from my friend is how frustrated she is in the situation cause they live so far away from each other, and I never know what to tell her.

I guess stranger things have happened.

Yup, really...
They first met on the net in Octoberish '97, sparks flew, souls met etc... met IRL in April '98 (for 10 days), he proposed, she said yes (this is after her attempt to get an extended 9-month visitor visa was foiled by the US consul), he went back, she went bananas for 5 or 6 months before cancelling her uni course and shipping out to the US of A in September '98... married a month or two later (ironically the same thing that wouldn't let her get a long visitor visa was the exact same thing that allowed her to get a permanent visa!) so she could stay in the country (not sure if they'd have done that or not if they didn't need to), and there she still is. Can't get into Uni there despite getting a sky-high SAT result cos she doesn't have full citizenship yet and can't get financial assistance with the Uni fees...
Me bitter? She's no less so...
