Stumbling through the alleyways
Hoping to find an open door
Smoke and tears fill my eyes
Guiding me over the wooden floor
The rim of my glass greets my lips
In a warm and understanding tone
The memories go down easily
With a painful beauty all their own
All I wanted was salvation
In neon signs and alcohol
But nothing like that could be found
In the dusty pictures on the wall
I button up my long black coat
And step outside into the storm
The raindrops are pills hitting my face
Never again will I be warm
Hoping to find an open door
Smoke and tears fill my eyes
Guiding me over the wooden floor
The rim of my glass greets my lips
In a warm and understanding tone
The memories go down easily
With a painful beauty all their own
All I wanted was salvation
In neon signs and alcohol
But nothing like that could be found
In the dusty pictures on the wall
I button up my long black coat
And step outside into the storm
The raindrops are pills hitting my face
Never again will I be warm
