I heard opera in my head
Headlights glaring through sheets of rain
Rain collecting in her eyes
Eyes that see no pain, only colors
Colors to keep the night away
Away from what she knows is right
Right through to the other side
Side-step the inevitable
Inevitable that it should come to this
This careful jumble of words
Words to hurt you, though I don't know why
Why do I?
I heard opera in my head

Stream of consciousness sometimes produces interesting results. By the way, try a cartwheel poem - you'll like it
