Okay...you can get the MP3 for this song by right clickin' on this link to save it:

***UPDATE***: Slower version: http://www.delta.edu/kdnelson/BlackDressBaby2.mp3

Also...a question...I used a trial version of a program to convert my wav files to MP3's, but I cannot use it anymore because I can't afford to buy it (I'm a poor college student, what do you people want from me?

). Anybody know of a free program out there I could use?

Anyway, here are the lyrics for "Black Dress, Baby"...

You say I cannot let them see
All of my pretty scars,
Gotta dress ?em up and make ?em cute
Make ?em sparkle like the stars
Now I don?t wanna put up a front
Don?t wanna perform a show,
But if I don?t, you?re tellin? me
That it?ll be a no go
So I?m gonna do this for you right now
I?m not doin? it for me,
I?m gonna cover up the imperfections
And wear the black dress, baby

Black dress, baby
You know I don?t believe in it
Black dress, baby
You know I can?t be seen in it
Black dress, baby
I?ll try for ya, baby

We?re goin? out, gonna hit the town
It?s better than hittin? the floor,
But even when it comes to that
You know I?m gonna ask for more
Carry me around on your strong hip
I?ll be so quiet and sweet,
You?ll barely even know I?m there
Except for when I greet
All those boys that get so jealous
Cuz they?re not here with me,
If only they could see the truth
Under my black dress, baby

Black dress, baby
You know I don?t believe in it
Black dress, baby
You know I can?t be seen in it
Black dress, baby
I?ll lie for ya, baby

Don?t worry, I will never leave
As long as you?ll let me stay,
I could probably be just fine on my own
But I doubt I?ll live to see the day
I was always told that true love hurts
So I guess we have something good,
I?ve never had anything before
And I never thought that I would
I love that sparkle in your eye
When you look at me,
But you only get that tender look
When I wear the black dress, baby

Black dress, baby
You know I don?t believe in it
Black dress, baby
You know I can?t be seen in it
Black dress, baby
I?ll die for ya, baby
Just love me, baby?

that's absolutely fabulous Bonochick!!

you really wrote an epic there, I'm not sure I would sing it (not that I can sing) in that fast a pace (it's a bit dizzying and I think negates some of the sensuality and intimacy of it, then again, what do I know???), but either way you have a wonderful voice and I can't say enough about the lyrics you've written... you absolutely MUST put this to music somehow!!

p.s. you can convert wav files to mp3 by using the free program at http://www.cdex.n3.net

such an honest and freshness to these lyrics, very impressive

Thanks, Wanderer...I was hoping somebody would comment on the pace, as I was unsure if I preferred it faster or slower...I will have to tinker with it more. It was a song that kinda popped into my head while I was driving home before...that was how it entered my head, so I went with it. I'd like to experiment with it more though.

Wow, that took guts! I liked it! It's good and you have a really good voice Bonochick. I prefer the slow version. It just needs a rockin' beat with an instrumental moment to break up the verses a bit.

Good job!

Thanks, Angel!

I prefer the slow version too, but I figured I would just leave both up anyway.

I am working on MP3's of my other lyrics too...and I'm workin' on more lyrics, so hopefully I'll have time to create new work over my Christmas break.
