Reach the suburbs,
And you won’t get very far.
But travel to the studio,
And you’ll be close to my heart,
For I am a star!

<Begin Song>

Did you catch my latest starring role?
It was a box office smash.
The Academy filled my closet full of trophies,
My wallet bursting with cash.

Maybe you saw me on the morning show?
Check it out in syndication.
I was the angelic brunette,
So go and gawk at me, just check your local station.

I’m not one to dispense secrets,
But that hair wasn’t real.
My fading role in the limelight,
Also makes me prone to steal.

<Chorus>

‘Cause I’m a rising celebrity,
I’m filthy rich;
I’m a somebody, if you know what I mean.

This job’s a synch,
And I’m always ready;
They say I’m the best they’ve ever seen.
...The best they've ever seen.

<End Chorus>

Last week my manager ditched me in the pouring rain,
As eyeliner streamed down my powdered cheeks.
With new contacts calling me every day,
I still haven’t seen him in weeks.

Things haven’t improved much,
As my last motion picture was a bomb.
My husband hightailed it, too,
And now all my cash is gone.

I need a place to live, father,
And I really miss the things I used to do.
I’ve been living out on the streets,
Just searching for food.

<Chorus>

My weight is a target of photography,
And life is now a bitch.
I’m a nobody now, if you know what I mean.

But I’m burnt on the inside,
And I’m hardly steady,
‘Cause they say there’s nothing left for me to be.
…Nothing left for me to be.

<End Chorus>
