This world wasn't built to handle you
The sky beckoned you like lovers do
I walk alone down a rainy street
With each small step, your tears drench my feet

Acid tongues are quick with their two cents
Not that they have ever jumped your fence
But I've often tended your garden
And I know the pain that you've been in

It is not okay
That you left this way
I understand it
But I can't stand it

You shine so brightly
Cover me nightly
Please come back for me
Anthony

I want you to blow my candle out
I'll let your example kill my doubt
We will join together in the dark
I'll wash them down and wait for your spark

To hell with words on yellowed pages
They'll go up in flames when love rages
The shoebox stash looks so inviting
You gave up, so why am I fighting?

Would it be okay
If I left this way?
Just following you
Into black and blue

You shine so brightly
Cover me nightly
Please come back for me
Anthony

Suspended in the air like a dream
Flowing to you like a wild stream
Tripping over your past sticks and stones
Flowers dying from the tearful moans

Knocking, knocking, will you let me in?
Help me erase the scars from my skin
Where is your touch when I need it most?
Guess a spirit doesn't need a ghost

I think it's okay
That I left this way
They can wash my stain
Down your silver drain

You still shine brightly
Cover me nightly
Please stay here with me
Anthony

 :applaud:

I have no idea what to say. Its just overwhelming. All I can say is thank you. Thank you for the emotion.

Ant.

That was really amazing. I kept replacing Anthony's name with Denise. Thanks for purging your soul in such an open manner. I learned a lot from reading it. Can I borrow some of this? I was writing a song and some of these words/thoughts will work nicely. Especially, "You gave up, so why am I fighting?". Utterly spectacular.

I just wanted to tell you again how beatiful I think this poem is... and thank you. Its made my day several times now, and made me surrender in a frosty climate.

Ant.
