it was late one summer night
hitting close to the hour of bewitchment
when
i decided to put in an appearance on the
hallowed mortal plane
as i was walking my journey
and came to a crossroads
i met a young lad
with his head sunk low
oh how I could i see his sorrow
and so i struck up a conversation
and said to him
"despair not, your new best friend is here
for i can do for you
your very own heart desire
what ever you need, whatever you want
it can be yours and in return I'd be wanting just one little thing"
he looked up back at me and asked
?pray kind sir what may that be?
I just threw my head back and let out a howling laugh

so i answered honestly enough:

and in return everything you ask is yours?
all of a sudden from amongst the mist came
my opposite number raving and ranting:
?without that which he?s asking
come the day of reckoning
your place in peace would have already been sold?
but i quickly flicked him aside
(next time we meet I?ll explain to him
that ?cool calm and collected? is what?s hot today)
and i soon returned to my new found friend
who took this all in
as if it were a dream
I could spot his eagerness from a mile
So I placed parchment and pen in his hands
and told him If he could please sign across the dotted line
everything would turn out just fine
he looked up at me with star struck eyes
after having just signed
and so he said:
?kind sir you now know my name, I yet have to learn yours?
I smiled knowing that what I was about to say would come as no surprise:
?I?m the devil, I?m the devil now -
Belzebub, Mephistopheles, ol? Nick, Satan or Clootie -
whatever you wanna call me
and by the width of my smile
you know we?ve all got style
and by the manner of hate
We?ve all got taste
And so you know
that you have just sealed your fate!?
