here's a song that I felt I could write to you. It's not from me though.

Watch out, watch out I'm like an animal
Not able to different good from bad
I'm finished, I'm finished, I know it
The city is immense and my head is dirty
I saw the doctor, he asked me "How's life ?"
"I don't wanna live", that's what I told him
There's nothing that makes me laugh if you want my advice
Surely, there's something wrong

Heeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyy, tell me if I'm alone

In my little country in North America
There's people watching television
Looking the others dying
"Somewhere else it's worst, somewhere else it's war"
I share my angry, my pain, my crazyness with all the world
Or better, with all the humans
The head between the hands

Heeeeeeeeeyyyy, tell me if I'm alone

Circulate, circulate, there's nothing to see here
I don't have the time to speak to you, I'm going tomorrow morning
To the Crazy people's house, they're not liars
When they talk I feel good

The wind blows my hair
Storms of music
The two eyes open, I can't sleep
50 million of images in my head
Montreal it's your fault, I love you too much

Lying in the middle of the night, I see a shinning star. I don't wanna take it, she's ok like this. Everyone knows ambition gives me nosebleeds.

cheers y'all

Holy John, I really don't speak French but I'd love to read your poetry in French...it's such a beautiful language and I'm better at understanding than speaking...
Did you write this? I couldn't tell by what you said...it is very, hmmm...graphic? no that's not right...
I love the last stanza of five lines...thought provoking...

Thank you, but that song is not from me. It's from a band called Lec Colocs. The singner, D?d? Fortin, killed himself in may 2000. He was very depressed (maniaco-drepessive) and all that. So he killed himself. The Colocs have only 3 albums. The first 2 are very joyfull. But they have a real sad story. After the first album (very jazz one), the harmonica player, Patrick Esposito Di Napoli, died from HIV. the album was simply called "Les Colocs", in '93. In '95, they released a second double-album, one part studio, one part live, called "Atrocetomique". Very jazz/blues/ska album. Then in '96, the guitarist, Mike Sawatsky, had a car accident and went in coma, but survived and came back. In '97 the bass player, Serge Robert, left the band for a solo career and Les Colocs took a new bass player, a french man called Andr? Vanderbiest. Later that year, drummer Jimmy Bourgoing left the band because he was also depressed and wanted to take some time to enjoy life. They released an album in '98 called "Dehors Novembre". This album was completely different from their previous albums. Very Jamaican-like, reggea and world-rock. The lyrics, though, were not as joyfull as the other albums, as singer D?d? Fortin was depressed. The album, like Atrocetomique, was very social-speaking, anti-capitalist. The last song is very very sad, dedicated to Di Napoli. This song, "Alone" (in french "Tout Seul") speaks about singer D?d? fortin's therapy in a Crazy people's hospital.... wich he went there by himself.

Les Colocs represented modern Quebec : a multicultural society (their last album really reprensents it). In their last band alone, D?d? Fortin seems to be one of the few genuine Quebecers.

-D?d? Fortin : singer, guitar, percussions (Quebecer)

- Mike Sawastky : guitar, singer, bass, harmonica (Half Indian/Half English Canadian)

- Andr? Vanderbiest : Bass, singer (French)

- Justin Allard : drums (Quebecer)

- Michel Dufourd drums (Quebecer)

- Jean-Denis Levasseur : clarinette, saxophone (Quebecer)

- Alhadji Fall Diouf : choirs, percussions, tam-tams (Jamaican)

- Pape Addou Karim Diouf : choirs, percussions, tam-tams (Jamaican)

they represented something, really. They were like "us". simple people, not rich people like american stars. They were independantists all of them, wich is an interesting social fact for a multicultural band here.

anyways,... that was the story of the band... here's the french lyrics.

(the music is based on lots of percussions, a good rythm of bass... not a sad music, but sad lyrics though, wich make the song musically very innteresting... very rock'n'reggae)

Circulez, circulez y'a rien ? voir ici

wow...thanks Holy John

Surprisingly, it made a lot more sense in French even though my comprehension is obviously less than it is in English...everything just fit together more and I understood most of it and what I couldn't I got from the English translation...
I didn't know about this band...thank you for the clarification
