I drive to the east
to where the idea of you rises
into the brightness of you
your morning
hot dawning
I drive on at the light
enlightening features
down to shadow and shapes
a perception is dulled
as a landscape is lit
I drive into where we
agreed we would be
anxiety a necktie
of sizzling steel
palpitations
like palominos
thundering pounding
I feel a chill in the face of the sun
in the fierce blast of brightness
I knew to expect
the ice of a life
leaving love to neglect
