A Stranger's Reflection

Whispers and lies consume our lives
Creating dissension, deceit, destruction
Friends become foes
Brothers and sisters become strangers
Reflected in the eyes of loved ones
The strangers I pass on the street
Eyes that are blank and vacant
Conversation non-existent
You have drifted away
Leaving behind an empty shell
You hide in the shadows
Where demons dwell
You are distant and remote
Uncaring and detached
Vacant eyes stare into space
Blind to all around you
You can?t feel our pain
Our helplessness and heartache
See the fear and frustration in our eyes
You see, but you don?t care
You?re depressed and dying
You?re wasting away
Anguished anger surrounds you
But you?re oblivious
A glimmer of you remains
I see it in your eyes
A flicker of who you used to be
A glimpse of your old smile
For a second you let me see
Then you blink
Your eyes are once more
The reflections of a stranger
Vacant and blank

probably one of the best things I've read in here in a long time
