"IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER"

Fly like a bird
You never heard the siren's cries
Beyond the enemy's lines
When you raised your colors high
In the name of the father

All of our lives we pray for peace
We pray for the grace of God
Our religion's on fire
There's no one to put it out

All is in doubt
From the open fields
To the crowded streets
TV has been static all this week
The desert sun begins to weep
In the name of the father

Fire, bullets and blood
Is today the day
The darkness begins to set?
Has God dimmed the lights?
Cause I can't see the hand in front of me

The cross lays in the dust
No one left to trust
The sun has given in to the darkness within'
Jesus has called it a day
In the name of the father

I didn't write the poem to really question religion. I for one believe in God. But it's the questions everyone has about religion that I got the idea for this peom. It's the ultimate "God works in mysterious ways" deal. I mean you get these thoughts pretty easily by just watching TV, walking amongst people, seeing the horrors of the world. All I had to do was sit on my couch one day and watch CNN for about 5 minutes and the poem hit me like a slap on the face. I just imagined an image of a bird staring amongst a desert, with the "desert sun weeping". That's the power of image :) I've rambled on long enough....

Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
