Well, I once thought--not that long before I started buying their albums--that War was the first album. It was actually the first one I bought. I also have a distinct memory of finding out that When Love Comes to Town was by U2, and being surprised. My brother was like "Oh yeah, it was one of those songs they did in that style."

so i take it you didn't have the one with the band bio and story of lillywhite recording the previous two(i, am of course, assuming we are talking compact discs)
