...Europe a lot. I loved England. I loved Scotland. I loved France. So much more to explore too.

But I'm stuck in the pits of boredom in America. I wonder how easy it is to get a job in Europe?

Either way, I need to get out of Michigan before I really do lose it completely. 2 months until graduation. 2 months too long.

Me too! The time I spent in England and Scotland will never leave me and I'd give anything to go back. I cannot imagine a better way to spend a day then lying on the Avon riverside reading all day in Stratford. *sigh* If only I could take a leave of absence from my job...

What's France like Melon?

Im supposed to be going there in a few weeks, but I really dont want to anymore. I have this awful feeling about it. Plus the fact I am shit scared of flying and a 23 hour flight will require copius doses of valium for me to cope.

Well, I've really only been to Paris. Funny enough, I can never stomach that city for more than three days at a time. I've been there twice, and, both times, I've found it to be an incredibly overcrowded city.

But I keep on coming back. There's something incredibly alluring about France, and, of course, it helps if you do know French. Some of the French can be incredibly stubborn, in that they know English, but will pretend not to know it in front of English-speaking tourists. Overall, if you love history, art, and culture, not to mention wine and cheese

, you'll love France. A definite shock, however, for those of us who have been surrounded by the English world.

Thanks for your comments melon. We wouldnt actually be in Paris. Its the riviera which is south I think (?), I have no clue about France at all. I know people say they can be arrogant about foreigners, but I wonder if thats just an overblown sterotype. I dont see how a nation can be known by such an unendearing quality. At least I hope this is the case as the only french I know is swearing and abuse, that coupled with my type of sweet natured, compassionate and patient personality, I will be welcomed with open arms [insert sarcasm here]. As it is, the South has a rep as being the playground for the very wealthy. Im sure being such a typical Aussie (ie ocker) who hates folks obsessed with appearances I can rest assured I will have a ball.

I will now go jump for joy and possibly cancel the whole idea.

Forget Paris and forget the Riviera. Try the rest of France. There's the Loire Valley, wineries, cathedrals, countrysides, and much more. I think Paris and the riviera are probably the most overhyped and most disappointing to those who see beyond the hype.

I found when I was in France that they always did that until I made it very clear that I was Australian not actually English and Oh! Suddenly they all speak perfect English.
Angela, go anywhere where Australians fought in a World War, announce that you are Australian and you will be treated like a god. I swear I didn't pay for anything in one town. The older people in those towns still feel like they owe us, and no matter what you say they won't let it be any other way.

I want to go back to Europe to. I can't decide whether to do that next year or do some Asia exploring.
