I rate Hoxton, Soho and Camden the best areas for a pub crawl (in order of preference). Plenty of good eateries there too.

Dim Sum in London is soooo much better than NYC, Headache. It's been a few years, but Royal China in Baker Street was delicious.

In seriousness, the two pubs that friends took me to last time I was in London that I enjoyed the most were the Ship and Shovell in Charing Cross and the Dove in Hammersmith.
