Does anyone have tips on how to remember the the many rules required to solve specific math problems? I ask because I always forget to do something in long algebra problems that cause the answer to be wrong. I'd appreciate in tips in better remembering them. There are just so many things to remember.

What sort of math problems/rules do you mean?
Do you mean things like, collect like terms and such?

Yeah, collecting like terms is exactly the kind of thing I forget. Knowing when to add or subtraction numbers on different sides of an equation, when to make the denominators the same number and other rules in algebraic math.

I sweep, so if anyone needs help on their sweeping technique, I'm the man to ask.

Roughly speaking, how far apart should I position my hands on the broomstick in order to maximise my sweeping power?

I find the most effective way is the left hand on top, and the right hand about 10cm lower down, this gives me more power in the right hand.

Hmmm, I'll have to think.
Really, it's always about how can I better simplify this equation?
So if you wanted to collect like terms on one side, but there's a number in the way, we'll hey, you can eliminate it (sometimes)! Similarly, if you make denominators the same, it makes the math a whole lot easier.
It's a logic process and it takes practice.

I'm not sure I have any specific tips per se, except for keep practicing and you'll get it with time.

If you want to PM or post an example, I'll try my best to explain (and remember ) how I would approach it.

Also, I'm considering grad school, does anyone have any advice?
I'd also appreciate any tips anyone might have about the MCAT...practice book recommendations maybe?

Thx!

I was wondering if any had any tips for test anxiety? I usually have a hard time with test, espiecally in a class room full of people, so I now go and take the test in the disability office, but because my corases this summer are at night its kind of hard to do so, one professor lets me do it the next day in the office, the other prefers me to do it the same day in the class room and if I need more time I can do it in a lab room after class which I cant cause I have a class right after.

So I need some tips anyway to help with my anxiety?

I usually try to encourage myself. I say things like, "AC, don't let this test conquer you, you are a smart woman, you studied night and day, go in that classroom and do your thing." I find that if I'm scared right before an exam, I totally freeze. I literally blank out and can't remember a thing. Encouraging myself "snaps" me out of that fear. After I've completed one exam question, I start feeling confident, then I go on to the next one. Each question I complete, my confidence shoots up. I just have to keep saying positive things to myself.

I know it sounds silly, but sometimes it works to be your own cheerleader.

Good luck with your summer class. I'm taking my last 3 hours for the Summer I session right now, and commencement is in August.

no, it's just a 30 pages seminar thesis ('the influence of culture on marketing communications'). I need this for my bachelor degree...I'll hopefully be able to start my MBA next summer.
What are you studying AC? (if I may ask)

^ Hmmmm, that almost sounds like social marketing. I'm thinking maybe you have to discuss different marketing practices used by businesses to better communicate with people from different cultural/racial backgrounds? Or maybe you have to discuss how globalization is causing the business and medical communites to re-tool their marketing strategies (i.e. printing brochures and applications in Spanish rather than English only? Running media ads in languages other than English? Using popular electronic devices or social websites? Supporting social causes/charities that are important to the specific populations they are trying to reach?) Am I in the ballpark?

If this is what you have to touch on in your thesis, I can recommend a couple of social marketing books. I had to take 6 hours in Social Marketing and Health Communications. The textbooks for those classes were very in-depth, and they might help you. Granted these books only focus on marketing & communication in the healthcare field, the principles are the same as in the general business field.

I am completing my M.S. in Clinical Nutrition. I have a Master's in Public Health and worked as a WIC Nutritionist after I graduated. I partcipated in a number of research projects that targeted people with nutritional deficiencies (people with HIV or full-blown AIDS, cancer patients, rural populations, pre-term babies, low-income families, people diagnosed with digestive problems), and decided to pursue a degree in that field. Now I work as a Nutritionist for an oncology group in Middle TN.

oh, I thought you are also doing business. But your degree sounds very interesting!
yeah, we focused on the marketing practices and the cultural backgrounds. I also started thinking about globalization and how I can put it into my text, but this is too big a subject to put it briefly imo. There is a lot of theory concerning different communication styles and their background ( i. e. political systems, social norms). The second half is about media selection/ advertising and there was this study about humor in advertisements my prof gave me in the basic literature. Imo, it is not that interesting, but she gave it to me, so I think I should use it lol! I haven't thought about the aspect of supporting social causes/charities etc. but this is nice input. Actually I have to email her the first part tonight. But maybe I could use some of these social marketing books for the second part (this will be a case study, but I don't know more yet.)
