Her dogs are funny, they play with the fawns. She still has that one on her lap in the pic, lives outside full time but always hangs around for food. My dogs would probably kill them, either intentionally as prey or unintentionally because at that age they were skittish and fragile. And my dogs do occasionally get raw venison (we feed them stuff that's been frozen for a while and won't get eaten by us since we can get it fresh for free each fall).

I don't think people really keep them but some idiot took them from the doe as newborns (for no good reason) and since my friend has experience working at a zoo, they got passed around until they ended up with her. She tried to give them back to the mother so they could nurse but the mother would not take them so she nursed them with a bottle with some help from a wildlife sanctuary. Since she lives in the country she decided to just "release" the surviving one in her yard. It wears an orange survey tape collar (so if it gets caught on something the tape rips off easily and she can replace it).
