JANUARY 20th COSMETIC DISTRIBUTION (NATIONWIDE)
On January 20th, several department stores will be distributing $175 million dollars of specified cosmetics products to consumers at no charge. Manufacturers are responsible for providing the product. As January 20th is Inauguration Day, several people are expected to have the day off, crowding malls even more. Note: Since proof of purchase is not required, we expect many consumers to take advantage of the offer.

January 20th Event Summary

Stores: The parent companies of; Macy’s, Dillard’s, Gottschalks, Nordstrom, Saks,
Neiman Marcus and Bon Ton will be distributing specified cosmetics products.

It is estimated that just under 2,000 department stores in 1,200 shopping centers in the
United States will be involved in the distribution of product.

Dates: Starting January 20, 2009 for a maximum period of seven days; while supplies
last, on a first come, first served basis; No rainchecks will be issued.

Reason: As part of a class action settlement against select product manufacturers,
$175 million dollars of specific cosmetics products will be distributed, at no charge, to
members of the class. Note: Since proof of purchase is not required, we expect many
consumers to take advantage of the offer. Details about the settlement may be found
at: Cosmetics Settlement - Information Website

Qualifications: Individuals will not be required to provide receipts nor proof of
purchase to make a claim and pick up free product.

Media Summary: The settlement details are required to be posted in many
national/regional publications. Media coverage is extensive.

Security Considerations:
- In some regions retailers distributing these products (listed above) may
experience larger than normal activity on Tuesday, January 20th.
- Early morning customer traffic at some locations may resemble Black Friday
crowds.
- January 20th is the swearing-in ceremony of President Elect Barak Obama and
given the historic nature of this day, federal offices will be closed and many U.S.
citizens are expected to take the day off.
- Stores may run sale events, increasing overall mall traffic within shopping
centers.

you're welcome.:)

get them & resell them on ebay  Or give as gifts. Who can't use free mascara?

You didn't get your check yet Rick? :tsk:

yeah, now that i think about it i can get a bottle of the soap i use, it's kind of pricey. though i have to work that day (not sure why it says many people will be off that day - maybe if they take a vacation day, because inauguration day isn't a holiday. but the day BEFORE is when i imagine most will be off, if either) but i'm sure i could persuade someone to pick it up for me. if this is even true.

Wow. There doesn't seemto be anything found on Snopes or FactCheck or in the Internetz disclaiming this so I guess it must be true. I hope it won't be like a Blakc Friday shopping day!

ETA: Read the Settlement carefully. You are only eligible to receive ONE item and they are first come first served, so you are SOL if whatever you want is gone by the time you get there. Also make sure you are eligible. I'm sure there will be some kind of paperwork required before you walk away with your freebie.

:D ... I'm gonna pay my local Saks a visit then ... I'll be dressed in drag, but my legal drivers license clearly lists my last name as Sachs, so I shouldn't have a problem ... :hyper:

C'mon, buy a plane ticket, get some cosmetics just for the fun of it, we'll go together

It would be fun though if this is true :)

Aaaand I would need these cosmetics for what?

:tsk: Carlos needs to generalize less with his threads. It's not important if you are a woman, it's important if you are interested in free cosmetics.
