Wesley had his yearly vet visit this morning. I cannot believe he's 4 already :crack:

He lost an entire pound since last year! They told me last visit I needed to incorporate diet food into his life so for his dry food he gets a mix of half regular, half diet but his wet food is the same. So now once I run out of this mix the vet said to go back to the regular stuff because now she wants him to maintain his weight. I thought for sure he gained weight over the past year so I was so shocked by that weight loss.

As usual he was such a good boy going into the carrier and once we got to the vet. She said he's about the happiest, calmest cat she's seen in a very long time. That makes me a very happy kitty mama especially considering he's still a tasmanian devil around the house! She also commented on how handsome he is :cute:

Here's some recent pic of my sweet boy...I bought him a bow tie for his birthday from Oskar the Blind cat's website. He'll wear it for a bit but he's not too thrilled about it. I think he looks extra handsome :)

Mythbuster Kittens on Livestream

This guy has a webcam on his foster cats. Currently 4 kittens and 1 mother cat, just over 5 weeks old at this point. The kittens just got exposed to dry food and water yesterday. Great to watch them jump around and be a chaotic handful. The foster dad has a good web presence, so he's got some videos uploaded and more photos on his facebook.

Here's our newest addition to the household, Aleister Meowly. :D

My best friend and I adopted him because a local Humane Society waived adoption fees for the rest of June, so we had to at least go there and check it out. We only thought it a good thing to do.After visiting with multiple cats, we knew that this tubby one was the cat for us. He is extremely lovey, cuddly, and did I mention wants to love and be loved? He's 3 and a half years old and we think that maybe he was owned by an elderly woman, she passed, and had no family or friends in the area to take him in. We don't think he was abused because he's not nearly as cautious as the other cats were. He's just a normal kitty.

So yeah enough of the proud mum's talking. I'll show you some pics.

He likes sleeping on my records. :cute:

Congratulations on the kitty Bonogirl777 -- he's adorable!

mobvok -- thanks for posting the kitten cam. My cat Rickenbacker LOVES it!

One of my other cats (Miss Myrrh) likes to watch live music clips (her current fave seems to be The Afghan Whigs), and another (Isidore) loves it when I Skype with a friend. He comes running when he hears her voice and will look right into the camera. It's as if he knows she'll adore him. The other person I Skype with sometimes he generally ignores. lol

I haven't been very active in this thread lately but in light of recent events I wanted to post an update.

A few days ago we lost our beloved family member Keto.

Keto was 15 years old and had developed a few medical conditions over the years and eventually the medications he was on were not enough anymore and nature took over.

About a month ago, we started getting small indications based on his behavior that something was not right with him. Even though he had medical issues, Keto was a very happy, friendly, playful cat and up to almost the end, his behavior was like that of a kitten rather than an older cat. He wasn't aloof or solitary and in fact he went out of his way to be as close to us as possible. He loved human contact.

As his condition changed, we had a lot of doctors’ visits. He was checked out by his regular vet and we also took him to various specialists. In the end it was apparent that there really was not too much more that could be done. He could have been treated very aggressively and that may have prolonged his life maybe for another few weeks or maybe a little longer but there really was never a hope for a “cure”. In fact the specialists told us that the treatments were so aggressive that he may not have survived the procedures so it was better to let him have a comfortable life for as long as he could.

About 10 days ago, his condition started getting worse. It was now apparent that he was suffering physically. To keep him alive much longer just for our sake would not be right. We decided to make his last couple of days as comfortable and relaxing for him as possible. To take him to be put to sleep was one of the hardest and most gut wrenching decisions we have had to make. We held him in our arms through the entire procedure and made sure he knew that we were not abandoning him in any way and that we were with him all the way through.

Its been a rough time for us but at least now we know that he is no longer in pain and wherever he is, he is healthy and himself again.

I have also now lost my favorite model for my photography. In his honor I'd like to re-post some Keto's pics.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your beautiful boy. I have always enjoyed the wonderful pictures you've posted of Keto over the years. Thank you for sharing him with us.

I am so sorry to hear this. Having BTDT twice now, I can surely empathize (and sympathize) with you. Keto will always be your little lion man, and you *will* see him again!

Sleep peaefully, Keto.

I'm so sorry. I know he was a big part of your family. I always enjoyed the pictures you shared also.

Oh I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Keto, Drowningman. I loved seeing the photos of him and reading about him. He was such a gorgeous cat. 15 years is am excellent lifespan for a cat, but of course it is never enough. Trust me though, Keto knew he was loved. You could just tell in all the pics. He was very lucky to have you and he made your lives richer, too.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'm glad that Keto's pictures were appreciated by so many.

Keto did bring a lot of joy and happiness to our lives.

The adjustment has been difficult but the hardest part is explaining his absence to our 3 year old daughter. She obviously cannot understand the concept of death and so we have been trying in different ways to tell her that Keto will not be coming home from the hospital this time.

Fortunately, toddlers are resilient and as more time passes she will adjust automatically.

I don't know how old some of those pics are, I do remember seeing them in here, but id say that's one damn good looking cat for any age. Its good to know he was happy and vibrant for the majority of his life. That's a gift right there.

He did live life to the fullest up until the last 2 weeks of his life. It is amazing how fast a body deteriorates when things start going wrong.

Most of the pictures I posted on here were taken within the last 4-5 years. So he was already 10+ years old by that point.

I agree with your sentiment about good health being a gift. Whether you're talking about a pet or a person, money, fame, fortune, etc, none of that matter even a little bit if you don't have good health.

Bronwyn and Finnula (who is mostly called "Noola" now), the two kittens who were born under the shed in our back yard, recently turned two years old. They are "house lilies" and do not go outside.

2 years already? Seems like yesterday you were posting about the kitties under the shed. Beautiful looking girls you have there :)

Thanks, Mrs. Garrison and arw--those little faces never fail to cheer me up. Callie tolerates them, and Fergus (the big ginger boy) still loves to play chase with them and seems to think they are "his" babies--he snuggles with them and washes their ears!
