I will be in Cincinnati for 2 weeks at the start of December.
It's a work trip so I will be busy enough, but I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to spend the weekend I'll be there.

A thank you!

Only suggestion I have is find a job that sends you somewhere cooler than Ohio. A guy I used to work with moved to Cincinnati a couple years ago, but if I asked him what there was nearby to check out all I'd get is a list of burger joints.

Never been there myself but if i were to go visit i might try and check out a Bengals game.

Vs. Steelers might be good, though you would have to get tickets on the secondary market as it appears the stadium has already sold out.

if thats your kind of thing, of course :)

Cincinnati Bengals Season Schedule - Bengals.com

I might check that out
Don't think I'm gonna get that many opportunities to see an American Football game, so why not.
Thanks!

No traveling would be even cooler

I live in Cincinnati....where are you staying? downtown? there is lots to do!

Yeah, staying downtown.
I'm sure I'll manage to entertain myself, but I wanna try to make the most of it.
I'm spending too much time just aimless wandering foreign cities lol

Well it will depend on if you have a car? or are limited to staying in the downtown area? and what types of things you like to do?
Bengals are away 1st sunday in Dec. but in town the 2nd Sunday...against the Steelers! a hard ticket to obtain..but I am sure you could probably find something.
There is a casino downtown..a very nice place!
There is a bar district downtown with lots of live music.
There are several nice museums downtown.
There is an aquarium right across the river in Kentucky and there is shuttle bus service that costs $1.00 to ride to get you over the river and back.
There is an ice skating rink in the middle of the downtown square that goes from Thanksgiving til the end of December.
Lots more to do if you have a car

If you like history, the William Howard Taft Presidential Library is very nice and they'll give you a tour of his house, too.

If you go to Newport, Kentucky---which, as someone else has mentioned, is right across the river and has a super-cool aquarium where you can pet sharks and horseshoe crabs (among other things)---you can get one of those Ride The Ducks tours, which will take you through both Newport (which used to be the Las Vegas of the United States before Nevada became a state) and Cincinnati. It's really cool.

If it's open, you could also check out the Reds Hall of Fame. You should also at least drive by Great American Ballpark if you like baseball at all. The smokestacks look really amazing, and you can see the rose garden that is a secret tribute to Pete Rose.

There's also a walking bridge---I don't remember the official name, but the slangy name for it is the Purple People Bridge---that lets you walk from Cincinnati to Newport. I'm not sure where it comes out at in Cincy, but on the Newport side, it's just down the street from the aquarium. (All roads lead to the aquarium in Newport. )

Also, since no trip to a different city would be complete without sampling the food, I would suggest you try Skyline Chili. It's one of the things that Cincinnati is known for.

Sorry for sending you so many replies, but I just thought of something else. I think this time of year, they also offer haunted walking tours in both Cincy and Newport, so you might want to check that out. I'm sure there's more information on the tourism sites for both cities.

and Montgomery Inn ribs!! obviously LoungeFly...you know your way around the hood! I doubt the duck thing would be operating in Dec...just FYI

Many thanks TheLoungeFly!

I will have a car available, but all the dowtown options already sound good

Oh, duh! You're right! Well, maybe on the next trip! ;-)

I'm a Kentuckian, so Cincinnati is one of my favorite day trips. It's a beautiful city! :) And I have to go there at least once a year to get my Jungle Jim's fix.

You're welcome! Have fun on your trip, Salome! Safe travels! :)
