Are you or will you be working in the field you studied at college/uni?

I always thought for sure I'd get into psychology and got specifically into developmental psychology in school. Aced it, but was bored to tears. I couldn't imagine what I would do with it, despite all the possibilities. I veered off into anthropology and got quite passionate about cultural anthropology and primatology thanks to an amazing prof who lit a fire under me on so many issues. While in psychology, I took anatomy and physiology, which eventually led me into massage therapy and I quickly knew I found my "thing". It's what I do and I love reaching people on a more nurturing level, but sometimes I contemplate going back to university and finishing anthropology. What for, I don't know. Will I? Not a clue.. Right now I'm fulfilled where I am.

I double majored in history and political science as an undergraduate and worked on Capitol Hill for a few years after I graduated. I became really disillusioned with that after September 11th, the Iraq War build-up, etc., and moved to England to go to grad school where I did a postgraduate diploma (a Masters without the dissertation) in modern history. That was an absolute disaster (I did well academically, but hated my university and my course), then I moved, got married and spent ages looking for a job until I found one in an academic library. Now I'm still working there and doing an MScEcon in Information and Library Studies through distance learning. I'm not entirely:convinced it will help my career, though, since library jobs are rare and many don't require a qualification anymore. :slant:

I have a BA in English, out of college 7 1/2 years. The first 5, I was an Assistant Manager at the Gap. For a little more than a year I was in banking; first a teller and then the person who opened your checking account and tried to make you turn your CD or savings account into an annuity. Now I underwrite small fleet truckers' insurance, with a big helping of on-the-phone customer service.

Like others...I speak English, and that's about it.

Nope. I majored in accounting and have progressively moved further and further away until now, in my current job, I do no accounting at all. (does petty cash count? thats it)

Nope. I majored in legal studies and definitely don't want to go into law.

So now I will be going back to school soon and getting a degree in Health Information Technology/Medical Coding. My main goal is to be a Registered Health Information Technician and a Clinical Coding Specialist.

?!?!

English major/mortgages. Both involve analyzing creative fiction.

I have spent the last four years studying tourism, business and marketing and I'll be done with my studies in a couple of months. Just don't ask me what I'm going to do next. I'm sure I will find something, somewhere.

I'm another person with a bachelors degree in English. I also have an MLIS, or masters degree in library and information science. I'm a research and editorial assistant for a newspaper. So, yes, I work in one of my fields.

I'd like to use my masters more. However, as others have said, library jobs are difficult to get these days.

Piss everyone off and declare a Colonel instead.....nobody will expect that.

Haha, I wish I had done that.

I'm double majoring in Music Composition and Communication/Culture, film is my big interest but I didn't want such a limited degree, so its something I do on the side I've taken courses in Boston and California and I'll be doing some more in Prague next summer. When I graduate I may do a fifth year Master's program for communication, and hope to work with marketing/administrating for non-profit groups or work in film scoring or public television like BBC/PBS, etc. Most of the time I accomplish nothing because my brain is going in 15 different directions, I'm also really into literature and would like to write more, but I'm not looking for a degree in that.

I have a BComm specialising in Public Relations and the Music Industry. I then got a dipEd and am currently a yr 5 teacher. So I am working in the field, but I really want to go into publicity and promotion for a film studio in Australia and am always keeping my eyes open for any such jobs, or jobs that can lead me that way.
I'm also doing a grad dip in child psychology, which when finished is a pathway to being a guidance counsellor at school or what i want to do, working in the government under the kids matter umbrella because over the last 18 months I can see pretty big holes in this one area!
ahhh we'll see what time brings.

I studied Broadcast Journalism and currently work for a few TV stations in town. Unfortunately not in the News Department.
