And here we go. It's like Barbara Bush et al after Katrina. I'd like to see him face those people whose hones burned to the ground and tell them not to spend relief money on Gucci bags and massage parlors. Dirtbag.

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said on Tuesday that federal aid for people impacted by Hurricane Sandy should be approved only with a specific spending plan in place so funds are not used for "Gucci bags and massage parlors," like after Hurricane Katrina.

"I want to get them the resources that are necessary to lift them out of this water and the sand and the ashes and the death that's over there in the East Coast and especially in the Northeast," King said during a Tuesday evening debate in Mason City, Iowa.

"But not one big shot to just open up the checkbook, because they spent it on Gucci bags and massage parlors and everything you can think of in addition to what was necessary," he said later, referring to Hurricane Katrina.

During his final debate with Democratic challenger Christie Vilsack, the former first lady of Iowa, King doubled down on his disaster aid stance, which is that it should be paid for or not provided at all.

King currently leads Vilsack by four points, according to a HuffPost Pollster estimate, but he has garnered the attention of national groups looking to oust him based on his often far-right positions.

The congressman, who is running for his sixth term, was outspoken about -- among other things -- the need to pay for any spending on disaster relief, an issue he has dealt with before. In 2005, he voted against a bill to help Hurricane Katrina victims because he said it cost too much at $51.8 billion. King was one of only 11 members of Congress to oppose the bill.

King said last week that his vote against Hurricane Katrina relief was "a good vote" and "a principled vote."

"I said that there will be all kinds of wasted funds," he said during an Oct. 23 debate with Vilsack, which aired on Iowa Public Television. "There’s no plan to spend it. I got beaten up on by many of the newspapers around, but I stood on that and I said it’s a principled vote and it will be easier to defend every day."

King said on Tuesday that some of his critics over that vote have since come around. "Sometimes you have to take lumps, but you have to do the right thing," he said.

King also said he would take a similar approach this time around and stand against efforts to "just throw a dart at the dartboard and say" what funding is needed to deal with Sandy's impact on the East Coast.

Vilsack called King's comments "heartless" and "extreme."

"In Iowa, we take care of people," she said. "That's all I think I need to say."

I'm sure that if I lost all my possessions and my house burned down the first thing I'd want to replace would be a designer purse, followed by establishing a rub-and-tug.

Because those people whose houses burned down sure look like they were the kind that were in the habit of buying Gucci purses. WTF. :|

yes, give them government checks and those 47% victims will just spend it on drugs, gambling and prostitutes

we should privatize FEMA, a good American Company like Haliburton could be paid a few hundred million dollars to deliver each family: one gun , one Bible and some boot straps. That's all anyone really needs.

John Cusack is producing a movie about Rush Limbaugh. Supposedly will star in it too, no info as to whether he's playing Rush.

What's left of your career suicide?

Will it praise Rush or mock him?

If it mocks him, I'll be there opening night!

Therein lies the tension that drives Dutton’s book, and might actually help explain our strange attraction to such rebels without causes. It’s also why a grown-up treatment of this incredible set of mental qualities makes for such absorbing reading.

The science behind all of this is fairly intuitive. Psychopathic traits have been given the Darwinian OK throughout the history of human evolution, which helps validate Dutton’s argument that these qualities can be pretty important tools if properly used. The “seven deadly wins” of psychopathy that he identifies (ruthlessness, charm, focus, mental toughness, fearlessness, mindfulness, and action) are all arrows we want in our quiver. And come to think of it, they also happen to be the very character traits that engage and—dare I say—inspire us when we find ourselves shamelessly hooked on whatever cadaver-filled cable drama is animating our vicarious lives this week.

But Dutton’s assertion that we can learn from psychopaths might be a bit of stretch. It’s a provocative thesis, to be sure. But by pushing this line a bit too hard, he sometimes falls victim to the pervasive habit among popular psychology writers to turn every insight into a self-help strategy. Fortunately, that doesn’t make his treatment of the subject any less interesting.

As Dutton puts it: “The problem with psychopaths isn’t that they’re chock-full of evil. Ironically, it’s precisely the opposite: they have too much of a good thing.”
Unlock Your Inner Psychopath: Kevin Dutton’s ‘The Wisdom of Psychopaths’ - The Daily Beast

I was listening to his interview on CNN Radio. I really got the impression Dutton was saying being psychopath isn't such a bad thing, considering how competitive the world is.

Sure, being charismatic and ballsy can be cool. But is it really cool to lack empathy and have no remorse for anyone at all? I've never heard of anyone having a good relationship with someone like that. I'm just disturbed by how this psychologist can lean toward the idea that psychopaths are admirable. Then again, he says he believes his father was one, so I guess there's a complex situation there.

PHOENIX (Reuters) - An Arizona woman, in despair at the re-election of Democratic President Barack Obama, ran down her husband with the family car in suburban Phoenix on Saturday because he failed to vote in the election, police said on Monday.

Holly Solomon, 28, was arrested after running over husband Daniel Solomon following a wild chase that left him pinned underneath the vehicle.

Daniel Solomon, 36, was in critical condition at a local hospital, but is expected to survive, Gilbert police spokesman Sergeant Jesse Sanger said.

Police said Daniel Solomon told them his wife became angry over his "lack of voter participation" in last Tuesday's presidential election and believed her family would face hardship as a result of Obama winning another term.

Witnesses reported the argument broke out on Saturday morning in a parking lot and escalated. Mrs Solomon then chased her husband around the lot with the car, yelling at him as he tried to hide behind a light pole, police said. He was struck after attempting to flee to a nearby street.

And in order to try and deal with the potential upcoming hardship, you put yourself in jail. 'Cause that won't make things worse at all.

Glad that the guy seems to be expected to survive, and as for this woman? Get her some help, post haste.

^If she gets a prison sentence she'll be forced to depend on gov. handouts for the length of her incarceration.

You have to love the irony.

A mother and daughter in Tampa, Fla., have a unique way of expressing family togetherness -- by creating a pornography site and shooting sex scenes together.
The duo -- known collectively as "The Sexxxtons" -- like many porn performers, don't give out their last names. Jessica, the mom, and Monica, the daughter, have been creating kinky content for their self-titled website for the past year and have just released a DVD.
In order to confirm the Sexxxtons are really related and not just claiming that as a marketing gimmick, The Huffington Post reviewed both women's driver's licenses, and their private Facebook pages, as well as private family photos going back 20 years.

I saw a girl get off a school bus today wearing a bathrobe. Carrying her coat.

I've seen the occasional pj type pants, and some schools have banned those. But that was a first-a terry, tied, full length robe. I'd guess she was junior high age.

Putting it here because I refuse to put it in the Boston thread. Yeah he's worthless and completely predictable, but screw you Rush. This is our fucking city and no one's going to dictate our freedom-least of all you. I wonder how he explains McVeigh and where his hatred came from. And the caller, well that's not surprising either.

We hate America so much that we invented it. So said our American hating President. Well, his speechwriter.

CALLER: Earlier you talked about with where these guys come from. The definition of difference between a liberal and a conservative is the liberal, when sharing things about a great country, people from another country, will point out that he recognizes what's wrong with it, whereas a conservative will point out what is great about it. Well, that's what happens when these young guys live in this area when is a liberal hotbed, all they hear all their lives even from people who are supposed to love this country is what a horrible place it is and what's wrong with it, so it's no wonder they turn out to be, as you call it, you know, become radicalized by our own nation.

LIMBAUGH: They do. They hang around people that don't like America, they get inspired or influenced by it somehow, and it's no wonder. Look, folks, Boston's a hubbub of liberal elite intellectual thought, all the universities there. And if you end up around the wrong people long enough and you're young enough and impressionable enough, then that kind of thing can happen. It is an interesting point about the difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals will tell you what's wrong with the country from the founding. Conservatives will say what's wrong with the country because of liberals, while telling you what's great about the country -- if the liberals would move out of the way.
