These are some very odd comparisons. Chris Lee resigned within hours because he was scared of the exposure he would get. There was evidence he was into transexuals and that wouldn't have gone over too well with Republicans. So he resigned before anything else got exposed.

And Trent Lott? Really? I'm not even sure what comparison you were trying to draw there.

Lee didn't have to resign. he just did. and Republicans put themselves up for a much greater fall because they campaign and legislate on their interest in regulating what goes on in other people's bedrooms, as well as holding themselves up as paragons of "family values." and yet ... did David Vitter, he who asked to be put in diapers by prostitutes, have to resign? it's not a question of what is legal. it is a question of common decency.

one would want to believe if their daughter or son friended or followed a respected U S Congressman on a Social Network. A social network that was created to further his political aspirations. That it would not lead to naked pictures of himself and other lewd, vulgar language and requests.

And no doubt about it, some of these posts happened when he was on the clock, in session. He also used Congressional phones.

He may have survived if he laid low for a few days, and then gave a statement that he made personal bad choices with his online activity. That he would turn his sites over to a staffer to run.

But going pubic and lying, challenging reporters that questioned him. The guy has zero credibility now. Would you want him to serve on a House Committee about internet use? Safety?

Staying in office just shows that he very selfish, putting himself above the Democrat Party and even the good of the country. Can you imagine a parent punishing a kid for sexting nude pictures of him or herself. Only to have the kid say Congressman Wiener texted a picture of his erection to a woman he never met. Just someone that friended him. Why am I being punished??
